The Guevent Investment Development Corporation (GIDC) is the holding company of the Domingo M. Guevara, Sr. Family and the flagship company of the Guevara Group of Companies.
Last January 2011, GIDC commemorated its 50th year anniversary. It formally renewed its corporate life under a new name, Guevent Investments Development Corporation, to better represent its current endeavors, and maintained the acronym GIDC.
Its Glorious Past
GIDC was founded in 1961 by the late Domingo M. Guevara, Sr., a self-made and multi-faceted industrialist. He had an abiding faith in the Filipino talent and resources, and an unrelenting passion to create products and services meant to upgrade the quality of life of the common tao.
Mr. Domingo M. Guevara, Sr. established Radiowealth, Incorporated to become the country’s first 100 percent all-Filipino producer of a wide range of home appliances, affordable to the Filipino consumer. Radiowealth was also the first maker of TV picture tubes and electronic parts this side of Asia, ahead of Taiwan and Singapore.
Mr. Guevara, Sr. created another trailblazing company, DMG, Incorporated, to assemble the world-famous Volkswagen cars in the Philippines, which were reasonably-priced for the Filipino family. With the support of Domingo’s sons, the company built the first totally Filipino motor vehicles, called Sakbayan and Trakbayan, designed specifically for Philippine terrain and conditions.
The second generation Guevaras continue to manage GIDC with the same abiding faith and unrelenting passion of its pioneering patriarch.
